Solidarity with Asian Community

Dear UCEA Community,
As an organization committed to social and racial justice, we stand in solidarity with our Asian colleagues and community as they face increasing violence. In the wake of the COVID-19 pandemic, the Asian community is being targeted with echoes of historic racism and white supremacy against them. We cannot allow students, teachers, and school leaders of Asian descent to be afraid to go to school or their families fear for them. 
Racial prejudice and violence undermine our core values of social justice and equity, and our integrity as a community of scholars and members of the leading educational leadership professional association in higher education.   
As we have done in past statements, we urge you to reach out to your Asian colleagues and communities with authenticity, caring and support, to engage your students and colleagues in discussions of how to fight racism against the Asian community, and to demonstrate the leadership it takes to disrupt ignorance, hatred, and systemic oppression. We cannot let this most recent hate crime and threat to justice go unnoticed. Join us in denouncing these racist attacks and in acting in solidarity with Asian communities.
