Dear UCEA, I hope the semester is off to a brilliant start and that you are weathering the ups and downs of our changing campus and classroom contexts. In addition to taking any necessary precautions to protect yourself and your loved ones, please also find time to enjoy the small successes of every day and to breathe.
We continue to plan for a safe and productive gathering for our Convention. The Planning Committee has done a tremendous job in the midst of current health concerns. In order to ensure that we can meet as safely as possible and that we can all feel confident returning to our homes, the Executive Committee decided to require vaccinations for all participants. One important point of clarification is that there will be no on-site registration – so please register in advance! This decision, not made lightly or easily, reflects the fact many of our institutions already require vaccines and all the evidence of the vaccination’s efficacy and safety. Here is the most recent FAQ to answer any questions you may have. Please, keep on the lookout for further communication from us regarding attending Convention.
We are very pleased to welcome the 2021-2023 Cohort of Jackson Scholars. Despite some of the current logistic and financial challenges that many programs are facing, we had a strong number of nominations. Mentors, get ready for an amazing group of emerging scholars. Congrats to all our scholars and their programs!
Lastly, I want to introduce the second episode of our new reinvented UCEA Caféseries. This episode, hosted by Dr. Irene Yoon, explores how the experiences of Asian Americans can and should inform leadership preparation. In addition to having a powerful discussion, Dr. Yoon provides resources and organization for those wanting to learn more or become involved in existing advocacy and educational efforts. Take a listen!
As always, feel free to reach out to us at Headquarters at any time!
Adelante UCEA!
