Manuscript Specifications

Research manuscripts should be approximately 25-40 pages in length and conform to the style of the fifth edition of the Publication Manual of the American Psychological Association (APA). All copy should be typed, double-spaced, in Times Roman or Times New Roman 12-point font. Notes, references, tables should be included in the MS Word file at the end of the manuscript. Figures may be submitted as TIFF or JPEG images, although we can accept most other formats. Please contact the editor if you have specific questions.

Abstract

Manuscripts must include an abstract (max. 100 words) that describes the purpose, methods or approach, and key conclusions of the paper.

Author Identification

To ensure anonymity, please remove ALL references to yourself, and possible co-authors throughout each file you send. Information in the text, or references that would identify the author, should be replaced with the word “Author” in lieu of the author’s name. Please send your cover page as a separate document. The cover sheet should include the title, author’s name, address, phone number, fax number, and e-mail address. Similar information should appear for all co-authors.

Editorial Procedures

Manuscripts are accepted for consideration with the understanding that they are original material and are not under consideration for publication elsewhere. Manuscripts are reviewed initially by the JRLE editorial team and if approved, are sent out anonymously to a minimum of three reviewers. Authors of all reviewed manuscripts will receive copies of the anonymous comments of our reviewers.

Special Features Submissions

In addition to its regular blind refereed empirical or conceptual manuscripts, the JRLE editorial staff reviews and accepts other work for inclusion in the “Special Features” section of the journal. These works may include conceptual, policy, and empirical work from other disciplines, reviews of extraordinary program/course designs and delivery models, reports from ongoing professional task forces, and contributions from past and current students that illuminate the praxis of leadership.

Open Disclosure of Review Statistics

Currently JRLE has an average turn-around time of 63 days for manuscript submission reviews, with a range of 1-150 days. In addition, the current manuscript acceptance rate is 6%.
