Revised Agenda:

8:30 am – Continental breakfast and registration

9:00 am – Kick Off Speech – Michael Usdan, IEL

9:45 am – Workshop One (20 min)

10:10 am – Workshop Two (20 min)

10:40 am – Workshop Three (20 Min)

11:00 am – Final Remarks

11:10 am -11:30 am – Load Buses and Depart for Capitol Hill

12:00 pm -1:00 pm – Participant Lunch Break

1:00 pm – 4:30 pm – Visits with Senators and Representatives and/or their staff as well as professional association leaders and executive branch offices.

5:00 pm – Gather and take buses together to NEA

5:30-6:30 pm – Reception at NEA

Professional Associations:

  • Institute of Education Sciences (IES)is going to do a presentation focused on their research/funding agenda and critical questions around educational leadership, key findings so far, and funding forecast for future. (Presenter and Host: Allen Ruby, Associate Commissioner for Policy and Systems Policy and Systems Division, NCER)
  • American Educational Research Association (AERA)is going to focus on federal legislation and federal funding for research and higher education. (Presenter and Host: Gerald Sroufe, Director of Government Relations and Senior Advisor, American Educational Research Association)
  • Institute for Educational Leadership (IEL) is going to focus on the leadership related issues that they sponsor, their educational policy fellowship program and how UCEA and IEL can collaborate. (Presenters and Hosts:  Helen Malone, Director of Institutional Advancement and the Director of National Education Policy Fellowship Program (EPFP); Marty Blank, President of IEL, and Curtis Richards, Director, Center for Workforce Development)
  • New Leaders (NL)will focus on the common goals they have with UCEA around quality leadership preparation and how we can collaborate as organizations for increased impact and success. (Presenter and Host: Jackie Gran, Chief Policy and Partnerships Officer)
