7th Annual UCEA Film Festival

The 32nd annual UCEA Convention will be held will be held November 14-18, 2018 at the Marriott Marquis Houston in Houston, TX. The UCEA Convention theme is Our Mission Critical: Revolutionizing the Future Through Equitable Educational Leadership, Research, and Practices.

As part of the 2018 UCEA Convention, UCEA will host the 7th annual UCEA Film Festival and Dialogue! With this call, we are soliciting submissions for 1 to 5-minute films that resonate with the convention call to:

  • explore/analyze quality leadership preparation and how research impacts preparation program designs and improvement efforts, policy work, and the practice of educational leaders; or
  • describe current challenges in educational leadership pertaining to the convention theme, Our Mission Critical: Revolutionizing the Future Through Equitable Educational Leadership, Research, and Practice, and suggest pathways for how these challenges may be transformed.

The aim of the festival is to stimulate dialogue to present innovations, effective strategies and tools, problems of practice, support collaborations, and so on. UCEA invites films of varying scope and aim, such as reporting the research journey or analyzing issues of policy and practice in an abbreviated form; examining specific policy, research or practice issues from several perspectives and contributing significantly to the knowledge base; or capturing leadership challenges and solutions across different countries to provide a comparative perspective.

Films will be selected by a panel of UCEA members based on:

  1. relevance to current education leadership issues/ convention theme
  2. potential to create dialogue
  3. quality of film-making

Each selected film will be shown, and afterwards the filmmakers are asked to engage in a dialogue with the filmmakers about the ideas presented.
