UCEA GOLF TOURNAMENT
UCEA
is proud to co-sponsor a Golf Tournament at the 2006 UCEA
Convention with the University of Texas – San Antonio,
Department of Educational Leadership & Policy Studies.
The proceeds will be used to fund special programs for UCEA
such as the Barbara L. Jackson Program.
The
Quarry Golf Club
The
event will take place Thursday morning, November 9, 2006 at
the Quarry Golf Club (444 East Basse Road, San Antonio, TX
78209). For driving directions and more information on the
club, please visit the Club’s website at http://www.quarrygolf.com/contact.html.
The
Club is located about 1.0 mile from the airport and most UCEA
convention attendees will pass the golf course from the airport
to the St. Anthony’s.
Getting to the Club
Interested
parties will need to catch a taxi to the Club. Participants
can meet at the lobby and taxipool.

The
golf tournament will take place from 11:30 AM to 4:00 PM.
A
Round of Golf
Each
round of golf is $50.00 per round. UCEA will purchase a set
number of rounds to be put on sale at this special price.
The fee will include green fees, golf cart, and range balls.
Clubs are available for rent at $45.00 per round. The Golf
Club has purchased new Callaway Big Bertha irons woods and
drivers.

Conference Tours 2006 San Antonio - Tour Choice #1 Architectural/Historical
Walking Tour
Description:
This
tour begins and ends in the lobby of the St. Anthony Hotel.
Participants will view some of the architectural treasures
of downtown San Antonio while listening to fascinating historical
and anecdotal commentary regarding the properties along the
route. The tour includes an interior visit of San Fernando
Cathedral – the oldest Cathedral Sanctuary in the United
States.

Historic San Antonio Landmarks Walking Tour
Description:
Tour begins
and ends in the lobby of the St. Anthony Hotel. This tour
showcases the top two tourist destinations of Texas –
The Alamo and the San Antonio River Walk. The tour also includes
a first floor walk through of the historic and haunted 1859
Menger Hotel – the oldest continuously operating hotel
west of the Mississippi River.

King William Historic Neighborhood District Walking Tour
Description:
Tour begins
and ends in the lobby of the St. Anthony Hotel. Participants
will walk a couple of blocks to board a trolley for a short
ride to the King William neighborhood Historic District. Settled
by prosperous German families in the late 19th century, the
area developed into San Antonio’s first fashionable
neighborhood district representing an eclectic mix of architectural
styles. A renaissance of the area in the 1960s has returned
many of the mansions to their former glory. This tour concentrates
on a five-block area along King William Street.
