A former high school teacher, Linda C. Tillman is a professor in the Educational Leadership Program. Her teaching goals facilitate students’ mastery of theoretical constructs and research design and allow them to co-construct multiple knowledge bases leading to more informed leadership theory and practice. Tillman’s scholarly interests center on African Americans in the principalship, particularly African American leadership theory and the role of the principal in facilitating the professional competence of teachers, African American parental involvement and the use of culturally sensitive research approaches. Tillman is active in the University Council for Educational Administration where she serves as a Jackson Scholar mentor and member of the Jackson Scholars Advisory Board. She is also active in the American Educational Research Association where she serves on the Annual Meeting Policies and Procedures Committee and as chair of the Mentoring Committee for Division A ? Administration. In 2004, Tillman earned the Scholars of Color in Education Early Career Contribution Award from the American Educational Research Association.
