UCEA Centre for the Study of Leadership and Ethics >> Tribute to Paul Begley
|
Paul Begley founded the UCEA CSLE in 1996 and served as Executive Director until his retirement in June 2011. Paul also founded the Nipissing University CSLE in 2008 when he joined the faculty of the Schulich School of Education and guided the NU CSLE through its initial years of development in the role of Director. |
| Although he had retired in June 2011, Paul continued to co-ordinate and manage the 16th Annual Values and Leadership Conference held in Victoria, British Columbia September 25 to 27, 2011. The conference was an extraordinary success with over 160 participants. At the Conference luncheon, September 26, Chris Branson (University of Waikato), Robert Starratt (Boston College)
and Jackie Stefkovich (Penn State University)
paid tribute to Paul for his career contribution to CSLE and the field of values and leadership in education. Their comments and Paul's responding remarks are recorded in the video which is attached to this website. A high point of the conference was the announcement that the Board of Trustees of the UCEA CSLE had recently established a Paul Begley Award. The award is to be given annually to a recently completed doctoral student, or one in the final year of study, for contributions to the field of values and leadership in education. |
